What is Al-Anon?

Al-Anon Family Groups is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family disease and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

What is Al-Anon's Purpose?

Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families and friends of alcoholics. Al-Anon is non-professional. We do not counsel or advise our members, nor do we endorse or affiliate with other agencies or organizations.

Is non-professional, self-supporting, spiritually based, and apolitical. It welcomes all cultures and is available almost anywhere.

Who can be a member of Al-Anon?

Anyone whose life has been affected by someone else’s drinking qualifies for Al-Anon.
This includes immediate family members, distant relatives, friends, roommates, co-workers, partners, neighbors, and even people from our past.

Alanon is a separate organization from Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.). Al‑Anon is, however, based on Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions that have been adapted from A.A.

Alateen, a part of the Al-Anon Family Groups, is a fellowship of young people (mostly teenagers) whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking whether they are present in your life or not. By attending Alateen, teenagers receive strength, courage and hope by meeting with others in similar situations.

Alateen members conduct their own meetings with the guidance of adult Al‑Anon members who are certified by their state or province to serve as Alateen Group Sponsors. ALATEEN SAFETY
